Welcome to BurstonTivetshall

from Mrs Karen Millar, Executive Headteacher
& Miss Sally Underwood, Head of School

At Burston, we believe in getting it right for every child. Children’s rights and wellbeing are central to our approach, and we place a strong emphasis on nurture. We know that when children feel safe, happy and included, they flourish—academically, socially and emotionally.

We encourage our learners to be independent thinkers, reflective learners, and responsible citizens. Every decision we make is guided by what is best for our children. If you have any questions—no matter how big or small—please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Motivated

“To be motivated is like having a superpower inside of you that makes you want to do something and finish it even if it’s hard.” Year 6 child

Burston children show they are motivated when they stay focused on their tasks and try their best even when the work feels challenging.

Ambitious

"Ambitious means to set yourself a big goal." Year 3 child

Children at Burston are ambitious when they set themselves goals – like improving their reading or mastering a new skill – and work steadily towards achieving it. They also show ambition by challenging themselves to go beyond what is expected and taking pride in their achievements.

Resilient

"To be resilient means to keep on trying even when things are hard." Year 2 child

Children at Burston show resilience when they make a mistake, learn from it and keep trying without giving up. They also demonstrate resilience by arriving at school with a positive attitude, even on days when things feel a bit harder than usual.

Kind

"To be kind means to be nice to your friends and be good to yourself too." Year 1 child

Burston children show kindness by helping others, speaking politely, sharing and making sure everyone feels included.

What people say about BurstonTivetshall

Staff were incredibly welcoming and supported my child when having a show round. The school felt like a happy and safe place to learn. Myself and child felt like part of the community. The schools planning and curriculum were impressive and we loved the curiosity approach. The children all seemed individual- no one child were the same.
Prospective EYFS Parent
I couldn't have picked a more wonderful school for my daughter. It's like one big family and everyone makes you feel so welcome. The staff have been amazingly supportive since she has started for my daughter and whole family on facing some challenging times.

If you’re looking for a school for your child Burston is the place!

Teachers at Burston help me by supporting me to work it out. If I get stuck they find a different way to teach me to help me understand.
Year 6 Child
Our son loves his school and from our perspective as parents, the combination of skilled staff and the real sense of community, has made Burston a really safe place for him to begin his education.
